On most trucks or trailers there are several things you must know before you can properly identify the brakes shoes.
- Type of brake (Dana, Eaton, Fruehauf, Meritor, etc.)
- Where are the shoes located?
- Steer Axle
- Drive Axle
- Trailer Axle
- What type of shoe?
- Standard shoe (Pin type) with a full closed eye on the anchor end.
- Q type brake (Quick Change) with an open eye on both anchor and cam ends.
- Size of shoe (Drum diameter-shoe width)
(15½ x 3-1/2½, 15½ x 4½, 16-1/2½ x 5½, 16-1/2½ x 6½, 16-1/2½ x 7½, 16-1/2½ x 8-5/8½, 16-1/2½ x 10½)
- What type of lining? (refer to available Carlisle linings).
