WORLD LEADER IN FRICTION TECHNOLOGY

Carlisle has invested significant resources in developing the industry’s widest range of friction materials
and most flexible manufacturing facilities. In order to support our position as a global leader in
friction technology and manufacturing capacity, we have two established friction plants in
North America and a new facility in China. We have created a diverse family of brake linings
designed to allow fleets to satisfy their unique application, performance and budgetary
requirements. Each of these materials has been formulated to provide optimum lining life
and stopping power while meeting specific cost parameters.

Cohesive Friction Brake Linings

Our most recent brake-through in friction technology is our introduction of Cohesive Friction®...a whole new way to stop your fleet. Cohesive Friction® doesn’t use abrasive particles that “dig” into the drum like all other heavy duty linings do. Cohesive Friction® creates a transfer layer of non-abrasive particles that smear onto the face of the drum. In addition, Cohesive Friction® linings are soft and conforming to the drum, unlike hard abrasive friction linings. This conformability allows for complete heel and toe contact between the lining and the drum, which lets us use up to 10% more material on each lining. This entirely new approach to heavy duty braking results in a friction material that will double the life of your brake linings and brake drums.

Milestone Brake Linings

The predecessor to Cohesive Friction®, and still our number one selling brand, is Milestone brake linings. All Milestone linings are designed to provide a unique combination of stopping power, long lining life and excellent drum compatibility. Proven Milestone brake linings have helped fleet managers across the country reduce maintenance costs by extending time between relines and reducing brake drum problems. The Milestone family of linings addresses axle loads from under 20,000 lbs. to 29,000 lbs. and applications ranging from general freight to extreme severe service.

EC20 & EC23

EC20 Brake LiningIn order to meet the needs of the entire marketplace, Carlisle has introduced its EC series of economy grade materials designed for extremely price sensitive buyers. These two asbestos-free friction materials were developed for 20,000# and 23,000# axle loads and meet F.M.V.S.S.#121 dynamometer testing standards.

Altec Brake Shoe Remanufacturing

Brake Shoe Remanufacturing

A critical component in the overall performance of a brake system is a quality foundation (brake shoe). A relined brake shoe that has not been returned to OE specifications will often result in cracked or loose linings and may present a safety hazard. The Altec remanufacturing process returns a brake shoe to OE tolerances, providing the quality foundation you need at considerable cost savings. Altec’s automated process utilizes 750-ton hydraulic coining presses to restore a shoe’s table radius to OE specifications, as well as correcting twists and distortions common to many shoes. Altec also provides Rustgard UV coating that extends shoe life plus an automated riveting process to ensure correct lining attachment and tightness.

New Brake Shoes

Carlisle/Altec has expanded its wheel end offering with a line of OE quality new brake shoes. New Carlisle brake shoes are an excellent way to replenish your shoe core banks, as well as assure a quality foundation for your fleet’s brake systems. These new shoes come in a wide range of FMSI numbers.

Features

  • Induction hardened cam and anchor ends prevent mushrooming for long-term durability
  • Shoes are coined after welding to correct shoe distortion and deformation that can occur during welding process
  • E-coating is applied to all shoes for better resistance to environmental conditions
  • Manufactured by Carlisle to guarantee consistent ISO9001:2000 quality
